Peace Crane Kit
Help Continue the Project Sadako Started…
‘In ancient Japan people believed the crane lived a
thousand years. And there is an old legend that if you fold
a thousand paper cranes, the gods will grant your wish. In
recent times, people throughout the world have been touched
by the true story of Sadako Sasaki, a young Japanese girl
from Hiroshima who developed leukemia from the atomic bomb.
Sadako began folding a thousand cranes in hopes she would
be well again.
Today, the paper crane is an international symbol of peace
and perhaps the most popular and elegant form of origami,
the Japanese art of paper folding.’ The story of Sadako
sets a powerful backdrop for teaching about peace, hope and
Japanese culture, as well as the beautiful art form of origami.
This kit is perfect for the classroom and includes enough
paper for a whole class.
This set includes the Sadako Peace Crane poster, the book
Sadako and the 1000 Paper Cranes, a package of colorful origami
paper & a detailed, illustrated instruction booklet. Additional
origami paper and books are available – make a thousand
cranes!
