Jack Kornfield is a teacher, psychologist, and author. After
graduating in Asian studies from Dartmouth College in 1967,
he joined the Peace Corps and began to study in the monasteries
of Thailand. He then trained further as a Buddhist monk in
Thailand, Burma, and in India. In 1975, Kornfield cofounded
the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts and
later, the Spirit Rock Center in Woodacre, California. He
holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
