The 21st century is the beginning of a new millennium. Our dream is that this shall be 1,000 years in which peace shall indeed prevail on earth. To seed this dream, The Peace Company is launching its Peace Millennium Award, to support those agents of peace on the planet at this time with the tools and the recognition that will hearten them to continue their work in these troubled times.

The Peace Millennium Award receives donations of boxes of The Peace Book: 108 Simple Ways to Create a More Peaceful World, so that it might in turn gift those boxes, with special certificates of appreciation, as a Peace Millennium Award to non-profit organizations and courageous individuals all over the world who are the leading the way for peace in their communities, often against great odds.

Usually poorly funded and often working under difficult and sometimes dangerous circumstances, with issues such as arms proliferation, peace education for children, domestic violence, human rights, resolving violent conflicts, preventing and ending wars, healing the wounds of war and oppression, citizen diplomacy, good governance, nonviolence, and many others, these organizations are the unseen, unsung heroes of a new kind of peace movement – one that builds a culture of peace to replace the current culture of violence that now permeates – and poisons – our world.

The Peace Millennium Award will recognize and honor these peace pioneers with the gift of peace – a box of 20 copies of The Peace Book that they can in turn give away to their hard-working and usually underpaid staff, their volunteers, and their constituents. A small token of our appreciation, these gifts say to our grassroots peace leaders, “What you are doing is critically important to the survival and well-being of our world. You are laying the foundation for a new millennium of peace, and we are grateful.”

Supporters of the Peace Millennium Award Project purchase one or more boxes of The Peace Book and donate them to this project. The Peace Company will present the Peace Millennium Award, including the boxes of The Peace Book and certificates of appreciation, to selected organizations and individuals.
